McKinley Park is the heart of East Sacramento. It is an urban oasis and thriving community center surrounded by some of the area’s finest homes. The perks of living in McKinley Park are endless. Residents are surrounded by the amenities of East Sac, within walking distance of the multitude of Midtown’s cultural offerings and are literally steps away from one of Sacramento’s most scenic and inspiring gathering spots.
The park’s Clunie Community Center was nearly closed in 2011 but the community came together via Friends of East Sacramento to take over the building, which now hosts a number of neighborhood events and houses a branch of the Sacramento Library. The park is also home to the McKinley Rose Garden, as well as a small lake, several horseshoe pits, baseball fields, soccer fields, and tennis courts. A favored spot for runners and walkers, the park is also popular for yogis, with a free Saturday morning yoga class held behind the rose garden.
The surrounding neighborhood is adorned with tree-lined streets and storybook homes that exude such charm and character that you forget you’re in one of California’s largest cities.
